I was in Butte Valley 17apr10 a main objective was to get some pictures of a cabin {forgot last time} near the top of Redlands Canyon. The cabin is small, tin and has a bus out side of it. Stella's is the cabin between the Geo cabin and Russell's camp. I think the name is on the gate or door. it's in the log book for sure. James

---

Just a follow up I found the White Swan site. It's near Darwin kinda. I read and heard the stories of why BLM destroyed it. Next week hope to find a few more cabins that I haven't been to yet. some I know exactly where too look and the others I have some hot leads on. James

Thanks for clearing that up. I've been to a lot of places without knowing what their names are and so when I hear people calling them by names I'm not familiar with sometimes I'm not sure what they're talking about. The White Swan cabin sounds interesting. I've only driven through Darwin once.

I found the site of White Swan. last spring it was bulldozed by the BLM. the site is near Viking mine off the 190. and I found Jake's place and the wooden cabin near it. on day I'll go up to salt tram area.

Are any of those the cabin that's supposed to be up near the Nelson Range? Some friends were talking about the Lee Flat area and mentioned that there's supposed to be a cabin in that range. Is that cabin in decent condition? Any interesting mines near it? How's the road going up there?

Nice picture! Did you spend the night there? How rough was the road leading up to the cabin?

RECENT CABIN PICS:
1. Jordan Hot Springs(July 2011) --> http://www.blackturtle.us/DV_SITES/SIERRAS/
(Ten mile round trip hike with about 2400' elevation gain on the way back.)
2. Tuttle Creek Ashram (June 2011) --> http://www.blackturtle.us/DV_SITES/SIERRAS/
(Slightly over two mile round trip hike with about 800' elevation gain.)
3. Nelson Cabin (June 2011) --> http://www.blackturtle.us/DV_SITES/MALPAIS/
(Drive right up to the cabin.)

As mentioned in the previous post, I actually had internet service while up at the Tuttle Creek Ashram. In fact, the previous message was posted from that very spot! :pacman:
