Do you think women should go topless at the beach?

Do you think women should go topless at the beach?
I'm very much in favor of equal rights for women and this is one area where they have been discriminated against for far too long. Ladies, you know what to do!!!
:lolly:
In a beach etiquette survey of about 1,100 U.S. travelers by TripAdvisor, released this morning, 78% of respondents think toplessness is OK in destinations where it's culturally acceptable. That certainly goes against the stereotype of Americans as being prudish when it comes to public nudity. The survey also found that 6% say "European" sunbathing is acceptable at any beach or pool.

The important thing is not whether or not women go topless. Instead, the important thing is that women have the right to go topless without being harassed by the legal goon squad who are supposed to protect and serve, not harass and intimidate. That being said, I have a feeling that Venice Beach is going to be pretty crowded on August 21, 2011 (assuming that the legal authorities don't send out the goon squad to put a damper on the festivities)!

So what happens if some guy decides to make a video featuring all the free floating boobs at Venice? Technically he can make a video since it's out in public, but what about jealous bf's? It's not like he's making porn, but it seems like some of the women would be uncomfortable with the idea of their boobs being captured on video. I'm all for the right of women to go topless. I'm also for the right of people to video anything they like while in a public place. There is nothing contradictory about those two rights, but I could see where some tense or uncomfortable social situations could develop!

Likely taking pics would not cause a problem. But don't get too intrusive you may make people uncomfortable. Normally it's OK to take pics at an special event. People know there will be cameras and pics taken. If you want a close up you should ask for it (it might even come with a pose). If you are in a clothing optional area it is expected that you don't take pics of nudity without asking. ...Unless it is at an event like the SV ball game.

10 successful cases recognizing women's right to be topless in certain states or cities
You should read about all ten, but here's one that was especially interesting: :sunshine:
In 1998 in Moscow Idaho, charges of indecent exposure were dismissed against three women who were arrested for baring their breasts in Moscow, Idaho. On a hot summer day in 1998, 8 young adults were walking down the streets of Moscow, Idaho, without shirts. 3 of them were women. Your guess which 3 got arrested. They were charged with indecent exposure. The judge's comments about his ruling are notable. He stated (this is not verbatim) that: (1) the existing local ordinance dealing with indecency was too vague, (2) that there was a state law banning the public exposure of genitals, but chests are not genitals, and (3) even if they were, he could not enforce such a law because it would be blatantly discriminatory.
