Aborted Fetuses In Food - So Says OK St. Senator
I don't know if this is a worldwide problem or just a problem here in the USA, but it almost seems that being stupid is a requirement in order to get elected!

Colleges Kill Religion, Push Lib Agenda - Santorum
Indoctrination? Santorum is an idiot! Churches indoctrinate children and colleges just undo the damage! The problem with Santorum is that he can't handle the facts! He's the epitome of what is wrong with this country!

It's the same old story: Smart enough to get elected, but not smart enough to do the job once elected! Most politicians are good at keeping up their social contacts and gaining social support, but not terribly talented at actually solving problems and understanding complex problems. Social skills are over-rated in our country and there should be more emphasis on basic communication, problem solving, and logical analysis. Of course, that scares the heck out of the religious right since logical analysis completely pulls the carpet out from under them!

The Secret Power Of Introverts
Our society is biased against introverts. Pretty much every political leader is an extrovert! That's really the crux of the problem. Extroverts are not good thinkers, but they are good at winning friends. Friends equal votes and so we get a bunch of popular AIRHEADS running things! It's obvious and it's simple, but that seems to be the social reality we're currently trapped in!
The terms “introvert” and “extrovert” were first made popular by psychologist Carl Jung in the 1920s and then later by the Myers-Briggs personality test, used in major universities and corporations. By Cain’s definition, introverts prefer less stimulating environments and tend to enjoy quiet concentration, listen more than they talk and think before they speak. Conversely, extroverts are energized by social situations and tend to be assertive multi-taskers who think out loud and on their feet.

That was an interesting article and I totally agree with what you say! Our country is led by a bunch of gregarious buffoons (extroverts) who have good rhetorical skills, but can't think their way out of a wet paper bag! They're a bunch of joiners who think that everyone has to be a member of a club, church, or other social organization. The result is group think or a herd mentality. That's how this country wound up invading Iraq. It made absolutely no sense. It was completely unjustifiable. But the idiots in charge and all their stupid friends all decided that it just HAD to be done! Moral crusades are the same way. A bunch of pushy imbeciles (extroverts) get all worried about drugs, or sex, or abortion, or pornography, or any other issue that should be left to individual discretion, and they decide that everybody must conform to the morality of the halfwits in charge. It's extremely frustrating to always be told what to do by people who are intellectually inferior! I say instead of the squeaky wheels (the extroverts) getting the grease (getting their way), they should be thrown onto the trash heap (kicked the heck out of leadership positions)!

Claiming that extroverts are the cause of all our country's problems is a bit simplistic, but it's hard to deny that it might be part of the problem. The way our society works does discriminate against introverts and this sort of squeezes introverts out of positions of power and influence. The inclusion of a greater number of introverts could provide a bit of thoughtful constraint that might keep poorly thought out policies from being adopted hastily. Introverts may not be much fun at a party, but fun people often aren't very good at getting things done. There are plenty of good, honest extroverts in this world. We're not all bad!!!

Abortionplex: 'The Onion' Story Fools Republican Congressman
As pointed out in this discussion, Republican rhetoric is so extreme (and divorced from reality) that it is difficult for them to distinguish real facts from fake facts. Ultimately there is no excuse for being this dumb, however!

Planned Parenthood Opens $8 Billion Abortionplex :smack:
The title of this news parody alone should be a giveaway! Eight billion dollars? Duh? Talk about obvious!!! And it's in Topeka, Kansas!!! :laughingx2:
Just goes to show that some people live in a fantasy world and have no sense of reality! Of course, to be successful in a world built up of collective fantasy (GOP ideology) one must decide that reality doesn't matter. Hence, fact checking is irrelevant to those who wish to be successful in that forum. Unfortunately that's also true of a lot of bureaucracies. Being factually accurate and in touch with reality can be a detriment to those who want to succeed in certain social bubbles which exist with alarming frequency in our world!
"The Abortionplex's high-tech machinery is capable of terminating one pregnancy every three seconds," Richards added. "That's almost a million abortions every month. We're so thrilled!"

Yeah, that's kind of funny except most forms of abortion don't involve going into labor. Although I suppose there are some methods of abortion that actually induce labor, and so I guess it's possible...

Arizona Law Would Make It Illegal to Teach Law, History or Literature
This is a perfect example of how stupid (and ignorant) leaders can make laws that do nothing but force everyone to function as if they were cognitively impaired. Apparently, these stupid leaders want everyone to be dumb, just like them! Not only would this proposed law limit the full and open discussion of concepts in the academic environment, it also seeks to limit the free speech of educators outside of the classroom. A law like this is stupid on so many levels that it can probably best be considered to be a proud monument to stupidity!
:smack:
Note the language of the bill: You’re violating the law if you engage “in speech or conduct” that would violate FCC standards if “broadcast on television or radio.” Not public speech or conduct. Speech or conduct, full stop. If this law passes, it will be illegal for any “person who provides classroom instruction” in the state of Arizona to have sex. Or pee. Ever.
