Drug war: Time for an exit strategy
The government is good at making some problems worse, but not very good at solving problems! That's our tax dollars hard at work: Doing something when doing nothing would have yielded better results! It's the same old story and can be applied to a lot of other social problems besides just drug abuse.
:soap:
These murders are not drug-related, they are prohibition-related -- committed by cartels that were spawned by drug prohibition, that derive their power from the inflated profits of prohibited but highly demanded commodities, and that operate in an underground economy in which violence is routinely employed to resolve disputes or remove business opponents. It's similar to what occurred in the U.S. during alcohol prohibition, but on a far more horrific scale.

Amen to that! You're preaching to the choir on that one. I just wish that more people would realize that government more often than not does more harm than good.

Obama Marijuana Legalization ?'s Ignored at YouTube Q & A
Most people I know are in favor of legalization, but our representatives just ignore us. Who are they representing?

Sick: Young, Undercover Cops Flirted With Students to Trick Them Into Selling Pot
This is the perfect example of what law enforcement should NEVER be allowed to do. Their proper role is to protect citizens from potential and real dangers, not think of devious ways of getting people to break laws so they can be charged with a crime! This is why so many people do not trust law enforcement. In fact, many feel like law enforcement is a greater threat than actual criminals! That's a pretty sorry state of affairs if you ask me!
:mad002:
Last year in three high schools in Florida, several undercover police officers posed as students. The undercover cops went to classes, became Facebook friends and flirted with the other students. One 18-year-old honor student named Justin fell in love with an attractive 25-year-old undercover cop after spending weeks sharing stories about their lives, texting and flirting with each other. One day she asked Justin if he smoked pot. Even though he didn't smoke marijuana, the love-struck teen promised to help find some for her. Every couple of days she would text him asking if he had the marijuana. Finally, Justin was able to get it to her. She tried to give him $25 for the marijuana and he said he didn't want the money -- he got it for her as a present. A short while later, the police did a big sweep and arrest 31 students -- including Justin. Almost all were charged with selling a small amount of marijuana to the undercover cops. Now Justin has a felony hanging over his head.

DHS Searching Facebook/Twitter For Marijuana, Other Keywords
Commentators express frustration with powerful and corrupt government at end. I couldn't have said it better, although I could have thrown in a few expletives!

Pat Robertson Says Marijuana Should Be Legal
Maybe you can teach old dogs new tricks? Either that or this old dog has gone senile! Either way, it's a good thing since it will cause more people to think about the issue!
:smoker:
Pat Robertson is the latest and maybe the most surprising person to come out in support of legalizing marijuana. Last week on his show, The 700 Club, the signature program on his Christian Broadcast Network, he spoke out passionately against locking people up for possession of marijuana and noted that it was costing us billions of dollars.

In TOO HIGH TO FAIL, Doug, with typical hysterical and journalistically impeccable style, has turned his attention to the War On Drugs. Is there a sustainable solution that enriches the American economy while decimating the cartels? Read, laugh and learn. http://www.dougfine.com

http://farmwars.info/?p=8092
[snip]

I shadowed a cadre of American farmers (some new, some third generation) looking at what a cannabis economy would be worth to the U.S. balance sheet if (perhaps we should say “when”) the Drug War ends. Just tryin’ to do my part to help the ol’ economy.

The folks who invited me in to learn the details of their once-secret industry sported tastefully framed permits from local law enforcement and were Chamber of Commerce members. Sustainability standards were written into local regulations. Quite the brainteaser for a fellow raised during Just Say No.

What I discovered amidst the Northern California redwoods is what both a majority of Americans and Pat Robertson already sense (according to a 2011 Gallup poll): beyond its obviously valuable medicinal properties, taxing cannabis like alcohol for adult use will bring a half-trillion dollars into the legitimate American economy in the first five years after prohibition ends and will thus play a significant role in balancing the U.S. budget, while jump-starting an American agricultural and manufacturing revival.

Obama Tougher On Marijuana Than Bush - Oaksterdam Raid
This is a big step backwards! The goon squad raids a business recognized as legal in California. This is unacceptable!
