I didn't even notice that the current sign is looking shabby, but it's always a good thing to stay one step ahead when it comes to maintenance activities!
Visitors to the Searles Valley will soon see a new sign to welcome them. Trona High School art teacher Carolyn McDaniel’s students have teamed up with Searles Valley Minerals to create a new sign to replace the old one on Highway 178. The new sign will look like the old one. McDaniel said her third-period art students began work on the sign May 7, and it should be completed by the end of the school year. The students used a photo of the old sign to create the new one. They used an overhead projector to trace the picture of the sign.
