INCH BY INCH LIFE IS A CINCH
YARD BY YARD LIFE IS HARD!

Don't ask me who said it. It just popped into my mind. I heard it somewhere, but I'm not sure where!

Here's a funny quote posted by a friend of a friend on Facebook. I'm not sure if it's original, but it is witty! :pacman:
Religion is a private thing. Think of religion like a penis, it's ok to have one, but not everybody does, it's ok to be proud of it, but don't shove it down the childrens' throats.

Talk about hitting the nail squarely on the head!
That's one of the most apt analogies I've ever seen. Religious child abuse (filling them full of religious BS) is probably the worst kind of child abuse imaginable!

Here's a slightly different version of the same thing that I found online:
Religion is like a penis. It's OK to have one. . .It's OK to be proud of having one.

But it is not OK to whip it out in public and start waving it around.

And it is especially never ever never OK to try and cram it down someone's throat.”

I never quite understood the relationship between Batman and Robin. Come to think of it, I'd rather not know!

Common Sense
Common sense appears to be only another name for the thoughtlessness of the unthinking. It is made of the prejudices of childhood, the idiosyncrasies of individual character and the opinion of the newspapers.

W. Somerset Maugham (1949)

I think that Thomas Paine had something different in mind when he wrote about Common Sense, but that's another topic entirely! :conf003:
