Word meanings are known to change over time and some words have multiple meanings. There may also be generational differences in meanings associated with different words. The word "pussy" is a rather interesting case in point. The word has three meanings which are recognized by most people: 1) cat, 2) wimp, 3) slang term for female body part. It's hard to say which meaning is most prevalent, but it seems likely that cat is the most prevalent meaning, followed by wimp. However, the third meaning often causes people to snicker when they hear someone use the word. Go to almost any library in the English-speaking world and you will find several books in the Children's Book section which include this word, but despite this fact some people consider "pussy" to be a rude or improper word. For instance, the hosts of The Young Turks refused to use the word in a recent news clip. They acted as if it was a forbidden word for some reason. This political correctness is not just annoying, but it also supports the practice of banning words. Banning words is almost as evil as burning books.
