The video featured me out in the middle of an abandoned mine site here in
Searles Valley with a whiteboard on which appeared various messages as the
song played. I just sort of stood to the side of the whiteboard and motioned
towards the messages in a rather primitive fashion.
Anderson Cooper instructed the candidates that they had to
listen carefully to the lyrics of the song and read the messages on the
whiteboard in order to understand the question being posed to them.
Basically, the song asserted that NCLB was a scam that did nothing to improve
the educational system in this country. In conclusion it
asked the candidates if they would simply scrap it or revise it.
It was exciting to see my video on CNN and I was not informed prior to
watching the debates whether or not my video actually made the final cut. When I saw
it I was thrilled and expected that I'd receive all sorts of calls that day
and the next day, but as it turned out almost no one I knew happened to
watch the debates. Fortunately, the debate was replayed several times and so
I was able to tell friends and family about it and they had a chance to
watch my video on TV for themselves! In any case the video is embedded on
this page and available for anyone to watch on YouTube.
