"9000 Penguins" is a humorous song/video that pokes fun at the global warming theory/myth/hoax. Basically "9000 Penguins" suggests that there will be a whole bunch of angry penguins if the theory turns out to be true and they lose their habitat. Obviously, the presentation is tongue-in-cheek since penguins would be incapable of any kind of organized retaliation against humans even in the event that the worst predictions projected in accordance with global warming theory materialized, but it is precisely this ridiculous scenario that makes the song/video potentially humorous. I'm agnostic regarding the theory of global warming and so I'm not trying to make a point in the song one way or the other. I'm just having a little fun at the expense of global warming fanatics and penguins!

The inspiration for "9000 Penguins" had nothing to do with global warming, however. Back in September of 2008 Oprah Winfrey was trolled by an individual claiming that his group had "over 9000 penises" that were going to do something evil and Oprah fell for the hoax, hook, line, and sinker. In fact, the event is considered to be the "most epic troll ever" by many observers. What happened was that an anonymous individual left a threatening message at Oprah's website in which he used the internet meme "over 9000" embedded in a provocative message. The origin of the meme was the Dragonball Z cartoon, which repeated the phrase "over 9000" in several episodes. By the way, I wrote the song "9000 Penguins" shortly after the incident in October of 2008 and posted it with a video mashup of penguins and Oprah on my old YouTube channel. I recently decided to create an original animation myself to accompany the song for my new channel.

So, the Oprah Hoax gave birth to the "9000 Penises" meme, which served as inspiration for my "9000 Penguins" song. (Note that "penises" and "penguins" share quite a few letters!) It should be acknowledged that the Oprah Hoax is not merely funny, but that it also demonstrates that highly successful media personalities aren't necessarily highly intelligent and that they are often driven by irrational forces. In fact, Oprah seemed to have been pre-conditioned to take the threat seriously. Any intelligent and sane individual would have recognized the hoax for what it was immediately, but not Oprah. She called for vigilance on the part of the public and asserted that law enforcement needed more support in order to fight the kind of threat suggested by the ridiculous message posted on her website. It was obvious that she believed all the media exaggerations and misinformation regarding child abuse (in fact, she is one of the media personalities most to blame for spreading inaccurate information on the subject). In short, what the hoax did was provide a public service proving that the queen of daytime television was a fraud and that she was not only out of touch with reality, but also obviously not terribly bright. Of course, this lesson went unnoticed by loyal Oprah fans, but they're pretty much hopeless anyways!!! LULZ
