Lesson One Hundred Thirty-eight: Miles Per Gallon

Usually when calculating mpg you wind up with a decimal value. Here's an example: 

	212 miles ÷ 10 gallons = 21.2 miles per gallon
Often it's best to round your answer off to the nearest 10th since you really don't need to know your mpg down to the nearest 100th or 1000th of a gallon. Here's an example where you round off to the nearest 10th: 

	251 miles ÷ 4 gallons = 62.75 miles per gallon
        ROUNDED TO NEAREST TENTH: 62.8 mpg
Rules for rounding to nearest 10th: 

  1) If the digit in the hundredths column is 4 or less, leave
     the digit in the tenths column as is.
  2) If the digit in the hundredths column is 5 or more, add
     one to the digit in the tenths column.

  EXAMPLES:

	3.33 --> 3.3				5.45 --> 5.5

	2.78 --> 2.8				3.31 --> 3.3
